The fifteen modules in the You’re Welcome project have been designed to support Quebec college students in their practice of English as a second language at the beginner and intermediate levels in order to make them more confident and fluent when expressing themselves in professional contexts. Although the content is tailored to young adult students in service industry-related fields (more specifically: business administration, retail management, hotel management, restaurant management, and tourism), it is relevant to everyone wishing to review essential grammar and vocabulary items and practise listening and reading comprehension. Please note these materials do not constitute a fully-fledged teaching method. They complement in-class instruction rather than replace it, although independent learners will also benefit from the exposure to authentic interactions, professional communication and common expressions and structures.
You’re Welcome advocates an active approach that places students at the centre of their own learning. These materials, elaborated by a team of college-level teachers and educational professionals, provide applied skills practice that facilitates the acquisition of essential lexical and grammatical elements in context whilst giving individuals control over the language elements they wish to focus on.
Don’t know where to start? Three diagnostic tests allow you to validate which language items you master and which ones you need to work on some more. At the end of each test, you will receive personalised feedback on which modules and sections to review.
